What’s my destiny?

The movie "Forrest Gump" tells the story of the life of the man who shares the movie's name. Forrest Gump was born with a low IQ, and in his childhood he also had a leg disability that required him to wear brace on his legs, which made him a target of bullying in elementary and middle school. On time when he was bullied, he was running hard with his leg brace, probably because he tries so hard to get away, suddenly his leg brace broke apart and he began to run free. And that's the point where he discovered he could run faster than most of the people. Because this skill of his, he gets into college and eventually became the star of the school's football team. After graduation he enlisted in the Army and was awarded a medal for his outstanding service in the war. After his discharge, he kept his promise to his fallen comrades and became the captain of a shrimp fishing boat, and eventually even became a billionaire.

The starting point of Forrest Gump is even lower than most of the people. Fortunately, he has someone in his life who has always been supporting him and give him valuable advice. Throughout the film, Forrest Gump's most common sentence is "my mama always said." His mother told him, “Don’t ever let anybody tell you they're better than you." She told Forrest that life is a box of chocolates, and you never know what you're gonna get.

Forrest Gump: What's my destiny, Momma?
Mrs. Gump: You're gonna have to figure that out for yourself. Life is a box of chocolates, Forrest. You never know what you're gonna get.

There is no worry that running and a box of chocolate can't solve.

Is Forrest ever felt lost and confused in his life? I think the answer is yes. Forrest was discovered by the football team coach while running to escape the bullies, which allowed him to attend college and join the school's football team, but he didn't know what he was going to college for. On the bus to enlist in the army, he said "I don't know who I might meet or what they might ask."

This is Forrest's confusion about joining the army. We all sometimes feel confused about our lives, about something. For example, when I was choosing my 11th and 12th-grade courses, I thought, "What am I going to do in the future? What course should I take?" When I was writing my first blog post, I wrote three drafts and still couldn't find a satisfying one. I remember thinking, "Why did I choose this as my personal project and how am I going to write it?" But while I was lost, I always remembered Forrest Gump's decision to go for a run after Jenny left. At first, he decided to run to the end of the road, and when he got there, he then thought he’d run to the end of the town, and when he got there, he thought he’d run across Greenbow county. The meaning of life is given in the process of running. When you reach an endpoint, you will know what the next endpoint is, but if you don't move forward, then you will be lost in life.

It's also like when you're eating a box of chocolates, if you don't choose one then how do you know what type of chocolate you're going to get? But if you try all the chocolates in the box, then eventually you will find the type of chocolate that best suits your taste. So whenever I got lost on a problem or stopped by a challenge, I'll go out for a run, and when I'm tired, I'll eat some chocolate. My mom used to buy me chocolate every time I felt unsure of myself and what I was doing. Every time I got blamed in figure skating class and felt lost, my mom would take me to the pastry store outside the club after class to buy a box of raw chocolates. I tasted the sweet and slightly bitter taste of the chocolate, and my heart was filled with determination and confidence again. What troubles in life can't be solved by running and a box of chocolates?

Always to trust that you will find the best chocolate that suits your taste.

How to run away from loss and bewilderment? It is to become a person who can firmly believe in himself and can domesticate destiny. When facing fate, we cannot change it, yet we can choose how to "bear" it. Do we choose to bend to fate, or do we turn it into motivation and run to every destination? We can choose to bear the enormous power of fate and use it for ourselves, thus "domesticating" our destiny just like Forrest Gump does.

Here comes the Chocolate head! My favorite dessert made of chocolate is bittersweet and fragrant. Chocolate can be paired with milk, flour, coffee or any other ingredients. It can be liquid or solid. It can be soft and waxy or it can be hard and sculpting. These are some of the chocolate desserts I've made, and they always give me a new experience. As Mrs.Gump said, life is a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get. Luckily my mom keeps telling me the same thing. So just experience it and savor life's possibilities.
